Maryland Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge 2007

My friend at work, Steve Price, talked me into doing “The Plunge” this year.  I had been listening to the morning show on 98 Rock and the website listed a bunch of family events so, I thought it would be fun.  Let me first say, it was for a good cause and there were a lot of good-hearted people there.  However, do not mix alcohol and a bunch of charged-up, ice-water diving freaks and tell everyone to “Bring the family!”

The Plunge took place on January 27th and thank God the weather was warm!  After waiting in line for the bus for over two hours to get back to our cars, the natives started to get a little restless.  Let’s just say, Steve and I have both been told by our “extremely supportive” spouses that we can do the plunge alone next year.  All in all, it was fun and the Maryland Special Olympics raised over 2 million dollars.   So, without further ado, here are videos from that day.  Enjoy.

Marshy Point Nature Center Popsicle Plunge 2007

The Popsicle Plunge was organized to help raise money for Marshy Point Nature Center’s education wing.  It took place on March 3rd and even though the air temperature was warmer, the water temperature seemed way colder than for the Polar Plunge.  As far as plunges go, Marshy Point should be applauded for holding a very “family friendly” event.  We had a great time and will definitely participate next year.
